List the material transitions
A wet kitchen can connect to a hallway, closet and adjoining carpet. Make a simple list of each surface and any cabinetry involved. Do not assume an extraction quote includes checking under every layer.
Compare the scope before the total
Ask whether each estimate includes removal, containment, drying, monitoring and repairs. Clarify equipment-day charges and the method for approving extensions. A lower total for fewer included stages is not a like-for-like comparison.
Keep a completion record
Ask what readings establish the materials’ condition and which repair work remains. Keep the final record with source-repair information and receipts, including any revised scope you authorized.
