What the work can include
The proposed scope may include removing accessible standing water, moving agreed contents and checking nearby materials. Extraction equipment depends on the amount of water, access and the source. A wet surface is only part of the picture: water beneath flooring or inside an assembly may need additional assessment.
Extraction and drying are separate steps
A floor can look clear after extraction while adjacent materials remain wet. Ask whether the estimate includes structural drying, monitoring visits and final moisture documentation, or whether those are quoted separately. Source repair is also a separate question.
What changes the estimate
The water source, affected area, material layers, access and contents can all affect the work. Ask how labor, equipment, disposal and after-hours charges are priced. A smaller wet area involving cabinetry or contaminated water may require more work than an open surface.
A useful question
Can I get a firm price from a photograph?
Photos can help explain the condition, but concealed moisture, access and material condition may require an on-site assessment. Ask which quote items are provisional and how changes will be authorized.
